Raptors 905 (31-11) lost the final game of its five-game road trip, 112-106, to the Salt Lake City Stars (14-26) Friday night. Seven Stars players scored in double figures, led by Henry Sims and Brandon Triche who scored 15 points. Brady Heslip, Axel Toupane and Antwaine Wiggins each scored 18 points to lead the 905.
Salt Lake began the game converting 62.5 per cent from the floor and outscoring Raptors 905, 35-20 in the opening quarter. Triche led the Stars with nine points, while Jermaine Taylor and Sundiata Gains each chipped in seven points for the home side.
The Stars strong play continued in the second, building on their lead with a 27-21 frame. Sims and Tyrone Wallace paced Salt Lake with five points each in the period. Axel Toupane scored a quarter-high six points for the 905 who trailed 62-41 heading into halftime.
Raptors 905 outscored Salt Lake 31-30 in the third quarter, Brady Heslip leading all scorers with eight points in the frame.
Despite an impressive fourth quarter effort from Raptors 905, the Stars lead would prove too large to overcome. The 905 outscored Salt Lake 34-20 in the final period, Antwaine Wiggins leading the charge with 12 points. Sims and Triche responded with six points each for the Stars, enough to preserve the victory and hand Raptors 905 its fourth road loss of the season.
